Dr. David Epley received his undergraduate education at Whitman College and his medical training at the Oregon Health Sciences University. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore. He was fellowship-trained in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at St. Louis Children's Hospital, part of Washington University in St. Louis. He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and an active participant in Maintenance of Certification. He sub-specializes in comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology. Dr. Epley is actively involved in the Washington Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, where he was President in 2004-05. He is also active in the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (AAPOS), where he served as President from 2012-13. He has served as President of the Children's Eye Foundation from 2014-2018, and is currently President of the Foundation’s Advisory Board. He is a graduate of the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s (AAO) Leadership Development Program (2005-06). From 2016 to 2023 he was a Director for the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is the deputy editor of the Knights Templar Eye Foundation’s Pediatric online education center for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Epley has published over 40 articles in peer-reviewed literature, has authored several book chapters, and has presented over 100 lectures at meetings worldwide.

Dr. Epley is frequently listed as a Top Doctor in local Seattle area magazines and national databases.

Dr. Epley is married and has two adult children. His hobbies include music, swimming, and technology. He has been in practice since 1998. 

Dr. Epley sees children up to age 18 for medical and surgical eye care.

Dr. Vy Mai received her undergraduate degree from Oregon State University and her Doctor of Optometry from Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She is glaucoma certified and has great interest in myopia (nearsightedness) management methods such as using soft multifocal contact lenses or hard gas-permeable overnight contact lenses (orthokeratology) that temporarily reshape the front surface of the eye (cornea). Myopia is a global epidemic and this is something Dr. Mai is truly passionate about.

Dr. Mai also has extensive experience with patients from all walks of life, diagnosing and managing cataract, diabetic retinopathy, retinal diseases like choroidal nevus and retinal detachment.

Dr. Mai is active in the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control. 

When she's not working, she enjoys baking and cooking for her husband and daughter.

Lauren is a licensed optician with 10 years of experience in eye care and is both ABO and NCLE certified.  She spent her early years in Seattle, before moving to Traverse City, Michigan. She graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2011 and was then overjoyed to move back to the Pacific Northwest. Lauren joined us at Children’s Eye Care in 2022. She is thrilled that she gets to help kids everyday see and feel their best. When she’s not talking frames and lenses, Lauren can usually be found discussing books, her recent travels, or proudly serving as the office Swiftie.
